i bought this one while shopping for the extension ladder (got that too). both are very well built and look like they should last a homeowner's lifetime and should stand up to commercial use pretty well. they are both heavy, but the step ladder is very heavy. that said, it is great to get into and out of tight areas without smashing your walls.

This aluminum ladder is very solid and stable. I am rating it 4 stars instead of 5 because the directions about extending and collapsing the ladder are not clear. If you are mechanically inclined, you will probably be able to figure everything out easily. I'm going to have to give it a lot of practice.

This is a great ladder, period. I read the other reviews about it being difficult to extend or retract, and that's just not true. If you go to the manufacturer's website, they have a video showing you exactly how to collapse and extend this ladder. And they don't make it look easier than it is. It was easy on my first attempt. It couldn't be easier, and I see no potential for catching/crushing fingers if you pay attention. According to the manufacturer's website and their rep that I spoke to, it is rated for 300 lbs. It feels stable and well-made.Compared to Little Giant: I own two Little Giant ladders, and I can tell I'll be getting rid of at least one of them now that I have this little gem. The Little Giant ladders are extremely heavy, and can be very dangerous (though the extra weight does add to increased stability). When you're retracting the top section of Little Giant ladders, they are like a heavily-weighted guillotine. You could easily crush your hand, or break your fingers. Caution will prevent that with the Little Giant ladders, but there's nothing you can do about the weight of them. And even when collapsed, the Little Giant ladders are still quite large and unwieldy. On the plus side, the Little Giant ladders feel more stable and can do some things in terms of configuration that this Xtend & Climb can't do. But, again, they are very heavy and unwieldy, so I like this Xtend & Climb much better.This Xtend & Climb ladder is incredibly lightweight and portable. It could easily fit inside your trunk for transport and in a closet for storage. The steps on it are deep and more comfortable than the Little Giant ladders' steps.If you're a professional with a truck, fiberglass ladders offer a great benefit in terms of weight. But, if you need portability or compact storage, you can't beat this Xtend & Climb SL675. In my handyman days, this ladder would have been invaluable for use in my small pickup or minivan. And it's the kind of ingenious design that impresses customers. Nice tools do impress and add to your professional appearance.Put simply, this is a very well-designed ladder that is extremely portable and useful. I've already recommended it to a friend.
