Stiebel Heater Review
By Grandpa
I purchased this heater to mount over the door in our bathroom due to that being the only place that it could logically be located. The reason for needing the heater is that the bathroom is at the end of the central heat duct run and in addition had three walls exposed to the outside, one of which was a north facing exposure. The temperature was always a little cool in that room. The installation included putting a wall switch below the unit so that it could be turned off without climbing up to manually turn the thermostat off.We had the unit professionally installed and have used the heater for about three weeks - the heater fan does not blow hard but has kept the room very comfortable. The thermostat seems to work very well. The noise when it is on is minimal. The styling of the unit makes it blend into the room without it shouting HEATER!If you are expecting a heater that you can turn on when you are in the room and it heat up the room quickly, this unit is not for you. I think that the application that I am using it for (an adjunct to the central heat) is a very good application for this unit.

Stiebel Eltron CK 20E Wall Heater
By Wood_Doc
This is a very good looking heater that fits in nicely with any room in the house. I replaced the baseboard heaters in favor of this unit as the base board heaters did not adequately circulate the air, or were situated at the back of the sofa or under the beds in my bedrooms. The electrician just disconnected the electrical wiring for the baseboard heater and used it for the Stiebel Eltron unit. The problem was the very high wattage that the unit uses. Whereas the baseboard heaters used from 650 Watts for the shorter one and up to 1250 Watts for the 8 foot long one, the Stiebel Eltron unit used 2,000 Watts, so if you are planning to replace multiple baseboards, you may need new electrical wiring with new breaker switches. I also found that the price of the Stiebel Eltron unit was really expensive compared to other wall heaters available in the hardware stores, but those in the hardware stores were not as nice looking. Whenever those other manufacturers start thinking about making a good looking product rather than placing a heating unit in a rectangular box, then more people may opt for the cheaper units. One may also want to look at the DC heat pumps that heat in winter and cool in summer. They are very expensive right now, but use a lot less electricity, around 650 Watts for a huge unit.

Best value heater on the market and well built too
By J. Nicoletta
I have now bought three (3) of these. Two in the 115v and one 240v. They work like a dream. Powerful, quiet, compact. Pretty easy to install because you don't have to cut a hole in the wall. It surface mounts with three screws and is held off the wall by two little feet.Strangely enough, no funny smells when first started up. I think the lack of a start-up toxic stink is evidence that the designers put a lot of thought into the details. Amazingly enough, in 2011 at least (and perhaps still) the heater was still being made in Germany but shipped via Massachusetts. How do those German manufacturers keep the wages so high and the prices so low? Wish the USA could learn how. One note my electrician observed: you will likely need to use armored cable (BX) to install it because a half inch of it is exposed between the heater and the wall. That's right, it is designed to be hard-wired to the electrical system in both models. Check with your local electrical inspector. In sum, I would recommend this to a friend.March 2013 update: Two years later, the two I installed are still running great. [The third, the 220v one, patiently sits on a shelf, awaiting insallation.] The heaters seem pretty immune to dust build-up, unlike some rotary fan models that need to be opened up and wiped down once a year. I attribute this feature to a good design. The down-facing intake louvers face the wall behind the heater, perhaps that's part of the reason. The enamel stays very clean on the outside too.The one in our tiny bathroom heats up the space in a minute or two, so we can save money leaving off most of the time because it's so fast. The one heating a larger space (12x20) is now controlled by a line-voltage thermostat by Aube. Aube by Honeywell TH106/U Electric Heating 7-Day Programmable Thermostat. Together they keep the temperature within a half degree F of the set point over the course of a week.
