5Great Light/Fan Combo!!
By birdmfc
Ever since I bought my house I have had a problem with steam in the bathroom after a shower. I replaced the original fan with one of those decorative Harbor Breeze light/fan, it was garbage, it should have been labeled light not light/fan. So a friend recommended this light/fan and it is great, we can take a shower with the water as hot as it can go and until it runs out and there is never any steam on walls or mirrors.**Extra information - when I first installed the fan it was making a lot of noise and I didn't understand why. I had a bug screen on the outside exhaust that was dirty and was restricting the air flow, once I cleaned it, the noise went away.

4Great fan
By Maryrose90
We installed this fan in our small downstairs bathroom. Works great for tight spaces having the fan and light in one. The fan does seem a bit noisy however we think that is due mostly to the tile floor. We have the same brand and size fan upstairs (w/o the light) in our vinyl floor bathroom and the fan is so quiet you don't know it is even on.

3So far, just so-so! Not loud, but not quiet. Definitely not 1.5 sones; only lukewarm on moisture removal
By Pierre François André Méchain
A review of different aspects of the fan, including pros and cons.LOOKS The Broan QTR110L's looks are great... flush with the ceiling, trim, and sleek.SOUND ISSUEAs others have reported, the fan's noise, even though rated at 1.5 sones, is quite apparent-- much louder than a Harbor Breeze unit we had that was rated at 2.5 sones! It's also much louder than any demo display fans at the big hardware stores that are rated 1.5 (the stores' cavernous, noisy backgrounds no doubt contribute to making the fans sound quieter than they really are.) One has to keep in mind that people's hearing ability varies dramatically-- and does their sensitivity. But I have no doubt that a Db meter measuring this would find it pretty loud. This Broan also has a whining noise that we're trying to track down the cause of (I can even be in a different part of the house and hear it). It's definitely not the installation; could be something in the bearing or ducting.AIR DRAWING CAPABILITY--ACCEPTABLEOTOH, unlike the Harbor Breeze, this passes the Kleenex text (well, sort of), in that it can grab a tissue and keep it next to the grill (if you position the tissue just right). On the HB, no matter how hard you try, gravity takes over and the Kleenex floats to the ground. (Chuckled over another reviewer's crack about a Harbor Breeze fan-- that it really was a *light* not a light/fan! We found the same thing. Also, those bulging decorative "fan"/light combos also may look fine in bathrooms with cathedral ceilings, but they look out of place in "regular" people's homes! :-) )However, unlike what several others have reported here, the Broan we have does *not* keep the bathroom *completely* clear of moisture (we have a small bathroom and really only needed a 60-80 cfm fan, but went with the 110 cfm for a margin). Some steam still coats the bathroom mirrors. Now, part of that may be because I may take somewhat warmer than average showers, and some of it may be due to differences in climate, but it means that other buyers shouldn't necessarily expect a moisture-free bathroom! It's so much better than the HB, however, in drawing out air, and so much nicer looking, that we will keep it.OTHER PLUSSESNote: The Broans are made in the U.S., which is a definite plus, and the tech/customer service folks at Broan/Nutone (continental U.S.!!) are superb--they are friendly, informed and informative, and most helpful. The Broan fans also have readily available replacement parts and Broan is excellent at shipping out needed repair parts, too.BOTTOM LINEThe bottom line is that this is a not-too-shabby choice, but not the best one, for those interested in both good air draw and very quiet operation. A couple of people recommended Panasonic bathroom fans to us (and a number of homeowners praise them on some of those home repair sites), but even those require careful perusal of user comments as individual models seems to vary in noise and air-drawing power. Note: a too quiet fan also poses a problem as one may overlook that it is running and leave it on for hours! That's definitely not a problem with this Broan! :-)TEMPERED JUDGMENTS...We also have to be careful in our judgments--there are variations in installation that can affect performance--and, given variations in manufacturing, particular units of a given model will also vary in how they perform. Outright condemnation of any company or model would be unjustified. (Also, users vary in noise sensitivity and hearing acuity which will affect their judgments and ratings, too...)I will definitely revise my rating upwards if we discover that the installation or build-quality is affecting our particular fan.
