Quiet, Automatic Humidity Sensing Bathroom Exhaust Fan
By A Larbig
This unit is not only efficient, but it is extremely quiet. While it is a bit pricey, it has some great features, besides you can barely hear it running!I love this fan, because it allows you to have regular ventilation, humidity sensing ventilation, but a regular light and a night light. It moves 110 CFM and the sound level is 0.9 sones. It allows the user to set the sensitivity, as well as a timer for how long the fan runs once it reaches a certain humidity level. Great job Broan.

Perfect Solution
By Flynorth
The previous reviewer does a great job of highlighting the various product features.-We've had this product installed in our bathroom now for almost a year and we absolutely love it. We previously had recurring problems with mold in the shower area and bathroom in general. The problem was made worse by the fact that family members couldn't consistently remember to turn on the (manual) fan we had. This fan has solved the mold problem for us because it automatically turns itself on and off, saving on your electric bill as well. It moves a ton of air, yet it's super quiet. The two lighting options: regular, and nightlight are nice.. FYI-Broan makes this particular fan in two different models: incandescent and florescent-this one is the incandescent model. Note: To do all this magic requires a special three rocker wall switch. So if your installing this as part of a remodel, it will likely require you to add additional wiring from your existing switch to the fan. In addition, our home had 4" ducting for the bath fan, and this has a 6" fitting. I also agree with other reviewers that it would be a challenge to install if you don't have ceiling/attic access.

Not what I expected
By Insightful Reviewer
After reading the other reviews I was excited and hopeful that I was purchasing the perfect fan. UGH...when it's installed and the light from the unit is on, you can EASILY see all of the guts of wires and mechanical things through the louvers. I can't believe nobody commented on this. My contractor has to go buy a nightlight bulb for it anyway and will look for some black mesh to put up there to hide the innards. Why can't things be designed well in the first place? As far as performance, I don't know yet. It does take a special wall plate for the switching. As far as noise production it is alot less the one I owned before but that one sounded louder than a garbage disposal or jet. You can definitely hear it but it's not obnoxious.UPDATE: I took a long, steamy shower and I would estimate that this fan reduced the remaining steam post-shower by about 50% and cleared it out after about 10 minutes vs. the former 25 minutes. Additionally, I did not hear the fan during the shower.
