3Warn entry level VR winch made in China
By ZB
Warn claims this winch is assembled in the USA, may be but with China made parts. Black paint was alredy flaking off of tie bars and fasteners before I removed it from the box. Plastic remote looks like a toy, hope it lasts longer than it's apperance. I was surprised to find four of the cheap solenoids in the control box; all other entry level winches use improved single solenoid which is more reliable. The finish on the roller fairlead is ok, much better on winches which cost less. Hope I did not make a mistake, perhaps I should have purchased a Superwinch.

5Strong winch
By JCB
I pulled a very stuck Tahoe out of a huge drainage ditch this past weekend and had no problems. The winch pulled it right out. Great product for the money

5Warn VR8000 winch
By Chris
I am really impressed with this winch. I expected an entry level model to be weak and on the cheesy side, but Warn went the extra mile to produce a great winch for not much more than the cheap Chinese built models their competition offers. Yes, they do source some of their parts from overseas, but they assemble this CONUS. The remote is great, and actually has a good toggle switch in it versus a flimsy plastic rocker switch... I pulled a Tacoma that was high centered on a rut out of a mud hole the weekend after installing and the winch worked flawlessly. Definitely recommend for those who just want the "security blanket" of having a winch on the trail without breaking the bank. If you know you will going beyond basic usage and making a lot of pulls, step up to a higher end Warn as this IS an entry level, basic, and unsealed winch.
